Shirley Griffith of Cisco died at 6:25 AM, August 10, 2020, in Abilene, Texas, at Hendricks Medical Center Hospice. Shirley was born in Santo, Texas, June 4, 1939, to Charles I. (Jack) and Alto Warren. She was the youngest of four children (parents and siblings are all deceased): Malta Joyce Warren (she was a twin with Alton and died in infancy), Charles Warren, and Alton Warren. She married Dan Griffith September 16, 1956, and she leaves not only this husband of 64 years of marriage, but a daughter and two sons: Shanley Griffith Rea of Wichita Falls, Ronson Griffith and wife Patricia of Longview, and Randall Griffith a professor in Thailand. Shirley left three grandchildren: Rachel Griffith Matthews, husband John Matthews; Rebecca Griffith Harris, and husband Chandler Harris; and Dustin Rea and wife Jennifer. Shirley had two great-grandchildren: Carter Rea, and Aaron Matthews. She moved from Santo to Lockney, Texas, during her 8th grade year where she graduated from high school. She played basketball and loved to watch the Cisco College girls’ basketball team play; she made friends with many of the players who kept in touch with her when they left Cisco College. She also had many friends at Cisco College where she worked for a total of 30 years—for 10 years she and Dan lived and worked at one of the dorms as dorm supervisor, but during that time she also worked in the cafeteria. She enjoyed painting, collecting recipes, cookie cutters, and rolling pens, but also growing flowers and cactus. Shirley attended the Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland with Dan. They lived in Lockney, Amarillo, Iowa Park (twice), Gilmer, Birmingham, Alabama, Nashville, Tennessee, Cisco, Albany (for 8 years), and presently Cisco. Dan was employed with Conoco Petroleum Company for many years. Graveside Rites will be held at the Santo North Cemetery on Saturday August 22, 2020, at 9:00 AM. Burial services are being conducted by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland; Larry Roberts of the Daugherty Street Church of Christ in Eastland is will be officiating over the graveside rites.
