Jeane Baldwin Pruett Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Jeane B. Pruett, 86, of Ranger, passed from this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, in Abilene. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM, Friday, February 18, 2022, at Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger, Texas. Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church of Ranger. Interment will be in Merriman Cemetery. Jeane was born on March 11, 1935, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to David Reynold Pait Baldwin and Margaret Virginia Williams Baldwin. She married Elzie Pruett, Sr. on Mary 22, 1974 and he preceded her in death on February 11, 2011. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Virginia Louise Bridges. Jeane was very involved in her community, serving as the Mayor of Ranger for two terms, on the Ranger Historical Preservation Society, Ranger Citizens Task Force, and in the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by her son: David Lee Hammock of Yreka, California; daughters: Donna Jeane Hammock of San Andreas, California and Billie Jo Pruett of Sutter Creek, California; brother: David R. P. Baldwin, Jr. and wife Bertha of Chesapeake, Virginia; sister: Jenny Lanclin and husband J.C. of Chesapeake, Virginia; and grandchildren: David Beatty, Gina Hopwood, Ricky Pruett, Elzie Pruett, Bobbie Jo Pruett, David Hammock, Mitchell Hammock, William Johnson, and Tammy Perry; as well as numerous great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Ranger Historical Preservation Society or to the Ranger Citizens Task Force. Arrangements are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home of Ranger, Texas.
