Ida Mae Ward

December 16, 1916 - November 3, 2018

Ida Mae Ward passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018. She was born December 16, 1916 to Ruben B. and Minnie J. Lane in Haskell County Texas. Mae was a dental assistant working in private practice and for the state hospital in Big Spring where she spent most of her adult life. She enjoyed square dancing, bingo, traveling and spending time with her beloved family and friends. Mae lived her almost 102 years to the fullest and loved life. Mae was preceded in death by her parents Ruben and Minnie Lane, the father of her children W. A. “Billy” Cooke, her son Billy B. Cooke, daughter Dolores Carpenter, her husband Preston Ward, grandson Travis Jones and great-great grandson Norris Dill. She was preceded in death by two brothers and 5 sisters. Mae is survived by her daughter Jayne Jones and husband Wayne and her very special daughter-in-law Frances Reynolds. Mae was best known as Little Mama by all of her grandsons, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Surviving grandsons are Tracey Jones and wife Carol, Troy Jones and special friend Amanda Sanders, Terry Jones and wife Crista, Ronnie McCuistion, Russell McCuistion and Rockie Sharpnack and wife Anita, twelve great grandchildren and 16 great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 6, 2016 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Edwards Funeral Home in Eastland. Graveside service and burial will be Wednesday at 11:30 AM at Mount Olive Cemetery in Big Spring Texas. In lieu of flowers the family asks you to make donations to the Woodlands Resident Fund, Shriners Hospital or charity of your choice.
